(advanced beginner) One ball of dk weight cotton (A) or other smooth
yarn; one ball of tweed or other multi (B) Size 6 needles (straight or circular);
About 78 beads Gauge 22 sts to 4" NOTE:
PB - place bead - with yarn in front, slip bead to front of work, slip 1 pwise, take yarn to back of work. The bead will now
be sitting in front of the slipped stitch. NOTE: psso - pass slipped stitch over. Using B Cast on 106 sts. Cut yarn and change to A Row
1: (RS) k1, (slip 1, k1, psso, k9, k2tog) to last st, k1 (90 sts). Row 2: Purl Row 3: k1, (slip 1, k1, psso, k7, k2tog) to last st, k1. (74 sts). Row 4: Purl. Row 5: k1, *slip 1, k1, psso, yo, (k1, yo) 5 times,
k2tog; repeat from * to last st, k1 (106) sts. Row 6: knit. Repeat rows 1-6 once more ending with a WS row. Cut yarn change to B. Row 13: Knit Row 14: Purl. Cut yarn. String beads onto yarn A with wire
or bead needle and add A. Row 15: Knit Row
16: Purl Row 17: K1, PB, (k3, PB) to last 4 sts, k4. Row 18: Purl Row 19: (k3, PB) to last 2 sts, k2. Row 20: Purl Row 21: K1, PB, (k3, PB) to last 4 sts, k4. Row 22: Purl. Cut yarn A and change to B. Continue in
st st until hat measures 7" from cast on edge, ending with a WS row. Next
row: k1, (k2tog, k5) to end (91 sts). Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog, k4) to end (76 sts). Next Row: Purl Next row: k1 (k2tog, k3) to end. (61 sts) Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog, k2) to end. (46 sts) Next Row:
Purl Next row: k1 (k2tog, k1) to end (31 sts) Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog) to end (16 sts) Thread yarn through remaining sts and pull together. Sew seam.

use the thinner one for yarn B Size 6 needles (straight or circular) Gauge 22 sts to 4" Cast on 106 sts Using B. Row 1: (RS) (k1, p1) to end. Row 2: (p1, k1) to end. Repeat these 2 rows 3 more times. Cut B and add A. Work
in st st until piece measures 6-7 inches, depending on size desired. Next row:
k1, (k2tog, k5) to end (91 sts). Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog, k4) to end (76 sts). Next Row: Purl Next row: k1 (k2tog, k3) to end. (61 sts) Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog, k2) to end. (46 sts) Next Row:
Purl Next row: k1 (k2tog, k1) to end (31 sts) Next Row: Purl Next row: k1, (k2tog) to end (16 sts) Thread yarn through remaining sts and pull together. Sew seam. Flower: Cast on 93 sts using B. Cut yarn and change to A. Row 1: k1, (k2, lift first of these sts over second) to end. (47 sts). Row 2: p1, (p2tog) to end (24 sts). Row 3: knit Row 4: purl Thread sts through remaining sts and pull together - twist
into flower shape and sew to secure). BULKY STRIPES (easy) Bulky yarn in different
colors (120 yds total) or worsted weight doubled (240) you can mix and match Size
10.5 needle 16" and dpns Child’s small, Child’s
medium, Adult Gauge 12 sts to 4" Loosely cast on 52 (54, 58) sts. Join to work in round. Knit 10 (12, 15) rounds. Don’t
cut main color, but switch to next color for stripe and work stripe as follows: knit 1 round; purl 1 round. Cut contrasting
color. Knit 5 (6, 6) rounds main color (or some other color if desired). Drop this color and add stripe color and add another
2 round stripe as before. Add as many stripes as you like, switching colors if desired - it’s a cool look if the stripe
color always stays the same and the back ground either stays the same or changes colors. Knit a total of 30 (32, 35) rounds
before decreasing. Switch to dpns when you need to. Decrease
row 1: *k5, k2tog; repeat to last 3 (5, 2) sts and knit them. Knit 1 round Next dec row: *k4, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round. Knit 1 round. Next dec row: * k3, k2tog; repeat from * to end. Knit 1 round. Next dec row: *k2, k2tog; repeat from * to end. Knit 1 round. Next dec row: *k1, k2tog; repeat from * to end. Knit 1 round. Next dec row: *k2tog; repeat from * to end.
